Print Maker and Artist Helen Skidmore Wins Canonteign Falls 4th Artist in Residence
27 July 2021
We are delighted to announce Plymouth College of Art final year student Helen Skidmore as our Summer Artist in Residence. She will be spending the Summer at the Estate drawing, sketching and gaining inspiration for a final piece of artwork commissioned by Canonteign Falls. Her work alongside fiverunners up will be exhibited from 11th – 26th September in Canonteign Falls cafe.
Helen comments, “I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to produce work at Canonteign Falls. I plan to make a series of drawings inspired by Canonteign Falls, which would lead to editioned prints, linocut and woodcut and/or a series of monoprint work. I love the movement of water, its passage through the natural environment and its transformational impact on habitat. Canonteign Falls presents with so many inspiring vistas I can’t wait to get started.”
Helen would like to hold a series of Walk and Draw workshops, for small groups to explore Canonteign through drawing. Helen describes place, presence, observation and perception as keywords that would underpin her exploration into drawing workshops.
Our Artist in Residence exhibition runs from 11th – 26th September. Exhibition entry is free – all visitors will receive a 50% discount code to visit Canonteign Falls. For more information on Helen Skidmore visit her instagram @hskidmore8
