Exeter & District Model Boat Club

Nestled within the picturesque surroundings of Canonteign Falls, the Exeter and District Model Boat Club’s boats  offer a delightful spectacle for  interested visitors. From mid-March to the end of October, the club members set sail on the enchanting Lily Lake every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to watch these impressive scale models and yachts glide across the water. The club’s passion lies in the meticulous craft of building and sailing scale models, creating a fascinating experience for onlookers. It’s worth noting that internal combustion (i.c.) powered craft are not permitted, ensuring a peaceful and eco-friendly environment.

One of the highlights to look forward to are the bi-annual open days. These special events showcase an array of boats of all shapes and sizes, displayed along the banks of Lily Lake. It’s a fantastic opportunity for enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike to appreciate the intricate designs and craftsmanship.

In 2024, the club unveiled an exciting new addition—a model boat harbour built by the members themselves. This charming harbour adds an extra layer of authenticity and charm to visitors days out.

Whether you’re a model boat enthusiast or simply looking for a unique outing, the Exeter and District Model Boat Club at Lily Lake promises a memorable experience amidst the natural beauty of Canonteign Falls. Come and witness the graceful sail of these miniature marvels on the water!
