Canonteign Falls Artist in Residence Diary – Helen Skidmore

15 August 2021

Inspired by the abundance of natural beauty Canonteign Falls has to offerHelen Skidmore’s artistic process is in full swing, and she is creating some extraordinary artwork which will be revealed at the exhibition in September.

Week 2.

‘It’s been a busy week in my studio and the work is starting to come together.

I’ve now started working in linocut. I produce test prints made up of mark-making ideas, which I will feed into my final linocut composition. I carve the linocut in reverse; so when the plate prints the artwork, the resulting image is printed the correct way around. This process takes a very long time and requires intense concentration.

I will reveal my finished current plate at the Canonteign Artist in Residence exhibition’.
