Blog 4 – Artist in Residence – The process of producing relief work. Clampitt Falls.

29 August 2021

I initially responded to the beautiful movement of light and water of Clampitt Falls, through charcoal. From this drawing I felt the need to move it on into an interesting relief work.  The motivation was to find balance between dark and light, combination of movement and stillness and also the way light descends down the flow of water, into a layered flow of light.  The images with this week’s blog, below, show  the process of producing the relief work. With time rapidly moving on, I decided to make a start on my final linocut and delay drypoint and monoprint until the last part of my residency here at Canonteign Falls.
