ART AND NATURE UNITE AT CANONTEIGN.

15 July 2024

Canonteign Falls, a unique destination that seamlessly blends art and nature.

As you explore the 90 acres of estate, you and your little ones will discover a unique mix of art and nature at the heart of the Canonteign Falls experience, a sight that is sure to ignite joy and spark imagination in everyone, regardless of age. Here’s a glimpse of what can be found at Canonteign Falls:

Sculpture: Situated in our lakeside courtyard, an arresting inverted pyramid water sculpture by Giles Rayner adds a mesmerising glint of flowing water for those sitting and enjoying the delicious refreshment of Canonteign Kitchen.

Rachel Ducker’s exquisite wire sculptures of fairies enhance the dreamlike quality of the fern garden, and the new addition of the sculptured lady named after the goddess of nature sits proudly guarding the first of Canonteign’s stunning waterfalls, Clampitt Falls.

Willow Art: Look out for the striking willow animals dotted around the estate, and a new family of dinosaurs now inhibits the fern garden thanks to the creation of local willow artist Katherine Miles.

Glass Art: Devil’s Leap Bridge houses a beautiful example of kiln-fired glassware by Elaine Mason and her company, Glass on Glass.

ART WITH ART: The labyrinth is not only a work of art in itself, but at its centre is a polished stainless steel mirror disc Torus by the renowned artist David Harber.

Local Art: In a new initiative for 2024, we are thrilled to unveil the cafe gallery, a space dedicated to showcasing the talent of local artists. This is your chance to shine. Currently, we are featuring the works of Rachel Z Garner, an artist whose journey is a testament to her fascination with layering, light, and subtle texturing. Her abstract style draws inspiration from the majestic British coastline and Devon’s rugged moors. We look forward to seeing your unique creations grace our gallery.
