School Visits

The spectacular setting and sheer variety of scenery at Canonteign Falls make it an ideal venue in Devon for school educational visits.

An information room is being completed for schools. This will include information and displays on the following trusts and organisations. A room is also dedicated to large information boards depicting the fascinating history of the Canonteign Estate.

Devon Wildlife Trust - Working closely with Devon Wildlife Trust, our nature and wildlife trail provides the perfect way for children to learn about wildlife and conservation techniques. Created by local volunteers working on behalf of Devon Wildlife Trust, the Forest Garden is a fascinating space for young environmentalists. The recent addition of a 2 metre giant metal spider, housed in its own web, made by local craftsman Barrie Darling has already caused quite a stir!

The Barn Owl Trust -The Trust hope to use Canonteign Falls as somewhere they can re-release injured barn owls. Talks from one of the conservation officers can be arranged.

West Country Falconry - Educational talks can be given on how birds local to the area, such as owls, falcons and hawks are worked.

The Dartmoor National Park and The Ancient Woodland Trust are here to advise schools on how to manage and take on projects for our Devon woodland.

The RSPB can help educate children on the wonderful array of birds, small and large, that live in the diverse area of Devon and the Canonteign Estate.

The Devon Deer Initiative can help children identify the tracks of both Fallow and Roe Deer.

Teign Fisheries Association are happy to arrange talks and fishing for schools.
